This beautiful home in Folly Beach, SC, 29439 was re-sided with James Hardie siding, ColorPlus DEEP OCEAN, Smooth Lap Siding, and ARCTIC WHITE Hardie Trim.
Project Summary
Because of our ability to work through architectural challenges, we were selected to perform an exterior renovation on this home on Folly Beach. The original sail/nautical themed design was a challenge indeed. We decided that going with lap siding using weaved corners, allowed us to compliment the architect’s original intent. This is always important to us.
We replaced old warped cedar lap siding and soffit with James Hardie Fiber-Cement Building Products. We installed ColorPlus DEEP OCEAN Smooth 6” Lap Siding and ColorPlus ARCTIC WHITE Trim. We installed the siding on a 6” lap because the home sits right on the beach and we wanted to achieve a greater wind rating with the installation. The 6” lap instead of the standard 7” allows us to drop the “blind nails” down and additional 1” which helps to bind the lap siding to the wall. It also gives a nice tight appearance and a busier look because the spacing between laps is less.
We also installed 1 Simonton Brand StormBreaker Plus 300VL Window, 5 ThermaTru fiberglass doors including a very nice front door that helped to complete the style, and 3 impact rated glass block windows.
